We’re excited to welcome Web3 Foundation, an organization dedicated to nurturing and stewarding technologies and applications in the fields of decentralized web software protocols, to the global edX partner community. Web3 Foundation funds research and development teams that are building the foundation of the decentralized web, where users control their own data and global transactions and exchanges of information are secure.

In partnership with edX, Web3 Foundation is launching Web3X, a series of courses on Web3, blockchain technology, and Polkadot. The courses cover the fundamentals of blockchain and Polkadot technology—the Foundation’s flagship protocol that secures and supports interoperability for heterogeneous blockchains—including the Substrate blockchain framework and the Rust programming language. The first two courses of the series, Introduction to Blockchain and Web3 and Introduction to Polkadot, are live and open for enrollment at edx.org/school/web3x.

Introduction to Blockchain and Web3 is designed to build the foundational knowledge and skills required to understand and experiment with developments in the blockchain space and Web3. This course is for learners who are enthusiastic about blockchain concepts but have limited or no knowledge of computer science concepts.

Developed by the Technical Education team at Web3 Foundation, Introduction to Polkadot provides a comprehensive overview of Polkadot, its technology, and ecosystem. The course also features Polkadot founders, who introduce its vision, features, and architecture.

Web3 Foundation’s partnership with edX is set to help blockchain enthusiasts worldwide get to grips with the fundamentals of the technology powering the next generation of the web. Open and accessible to learners of all levels, the first two courses offer the perfect introduction to the core concepts governing blockchain and the Polkadot network.
