Open edX 2021 Conference Puts Spotlight on the Future of Online Education

edX CEO, Anant Agarwal, and VP of Open Learning at MIT, Sanjay Sarma, will headline the 2021 Open edX Conference on May 27th, 2021

Cambridge, MA - edX is pleased to announce the 2021 Open edX Conference, which will be held virtually on May 27th from 9am - 1pm EDT. The Open edX platform is the open source learning management system that is used across the globe to teach and learn online, and has been deployed to support everything from single classrooms, to universities, to nation-wide learning initiatives.

Keynote speakers Sanjay Sarma, VP of Open Learning at MIT, and Anant Agarwal, edX CEO and Founder, in addition to ed-tech luminaries and Open edX practitioners, will lead attendees through the Open edX Conference theme of “Shaping the Future of Education Together.” Speakers will share ideas, solutions, and tools for the challenges of up-skilling, re-skilling, and delivering lifelong learning. Attendees will receive a deep dive into how technologists and educational leaders can use open source technology to solve the challenges presented by COVID-19, remote learning, and social connectivity.

At the 2021 Open edX Conference, participants will hear directly from innovators and organizations who are using open technology in novel ways, both within higher education, and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speakers will detail how they are advancing instructional design and course production, and other methods for operating, extending, and enhancing the Open edX platform. Attendees will be able to network with peers from around the world who are using the Open edX platform.

Talks will be organized around three themes:

  • Platform & Product
  • Extensions & Integrations
